Even before approaching your Moustache bike, make sure you have everything you need for a successful ride or journey.
This includes adequate safety equipment: a helmet, gloves, and a functional lighting system (for your night rides).
Also, always make sure that your Moustache electric bike's battery is properly charged to ensure sufficient and optimal range depending on your journey!
Once in front of your Moustache bike, start with a general check to detect any signs of damage or wear.
Then make sure that:
- Your steering with the handlebar tightening.
- Your tires are well inflated (You will find our recommended tire pressure chart below).
- Your brakes are working correctly.

How to pedal properly with my electric bike?
Here are some tips for mastering the art of pedaling on an electric bike for an optimal riding experience!

Maintain a regular pedaling frequency: it is generally more efficient to maintain a regular pedaling frequency (around 60 revolutions per minute), this maximizes the efficiency of the electric assistance and reduces muscle fatigue.

Anticipate gear changes: Before tackling an uphill or downhill section. Shift gears smoothly to avoid stressing the chain and preserve the drivetrain.

Adapt your pedaling to the situation: Be attentive to your surroundings and adjust your pedaling accordingly. For example, if you are approaching a red light or a stop, start gradually slowing down your cadence to avoid abrupt stops. Similarly, if you encounter strong winds or a sudden climb, increase your cadence and assistance to help you overcome these obstacles.
By taking into account these three essential points, you will not only maximize the efficiency of the electric assistance but also extend your range!
How to brake properly with my electric bike?
Distinguish these brake levers: The left lever controls the front brake, while the right lever operates the rear brake. This configuration is designed to maximize control of your bike during braking.
When braking, mass transfer occurs naturally: the weight of your body and the bike shifts forward, compressing the front tire and improving grip. This is why it is recommended to prioritize the front brake with a progressive pressure for effective braking.
This approach allows you to modulate your speed smoothly, thus avoiding abrupt stops that could compromise your balance or lead to wheel lock-up.

Approach the turn and slow down by downshifting.

Use your brakes progressively before entering the turn to slow down, but avoid abrupt braking that could compromise grip.

Do not touch the brakes while you are in the turn to avoid any risk of imbalance. Keep your hands on the handlebars to maintain control.

Prioritize the rear brake during the turn to maintain bike stability. Keep a slight pressure on the front brake for optimal control, but don't press too hard.

Keep your gaze directed towards the exit of the turn to anticipate your trajectory and adjust your speed accordingly. By maintaining a fluid trajectory and adjusting your speed according to the turn, you will increase your safety and control on the road.

How to secure my electric bike?
We know, and so do you, that it is necessary to properly secure your bike when it's out of sight. We're going to give you some tips to properly secure your ride and limit the risks of theft!
First, always ensure you attach your bike to a fixed anchor point using a specific anti-theft device when not in use. Preferably opt for SRA certified locks and anti-theft devices (a certification that attests to the resistance and reliability of locks and security devices for two-wheelers), which offers certified protection against theft. It's also wise to choose well-lit and frequented locations to deter thieves.
Avoid flimsy anti-theft devices such as thin cables and entry-level locks, which can be easily cut or forced.
4 types of anti-theft devices to secure your electric bike

U-locks: Robust and resistant, they offer good protection against theft. Choose one with SRA certification for enhanced security. Its predefined shape may sometimes prevent you from easily attaching it to street furniture. They usually come with a mounting bracket for convenient transport during your bike rides. Good value for money compared to their protection.

Chains: They are more flexible than U-locks and allow securing the bike around various anchor points. Make sure they are thick enough and equipped with secure locks. Chains can be carried in a backpack when not in use.

Folding locks: These anti-theft devices offer a combination of robustness and flexibility. They are compact when not in use and can be easily attached to the bike. Slightly higher price compared to other locks, but more practical and robust.

Integrated frame locks: Some of our models are equipped with an integrated Axa 'horseshoe' type lock that already secures part of your Moustache electric bike. This type of lock is practical for 'quick stops', but for total security it is not sufficient.
In addition to these 4 types of security, electronic anti-theft devices: More and more electronic security devices, such as GPS trackers, like the BCM from Bosch are available to track and locate your bike in case of theft.
Finally, don't forget to register your Moustache bike in our virtual garage via your serial number or your Moustache Code.
