FASTER THAN THE CAR? WHO RIDES, WILL SEE!
As you have just seen, we have carried out a real terrain test and we chose a playground that’s capable of offering not only splendid roads on the coastline but also the chaos of town center traffic… the famous French city, Massilia, Marseille!
Who wouldn’t dream of taking “la Corniche” every day to get to work?
To benefit from this experience, we established our base camp at Goudes, a haven of peace situated at the outer limits of Marseille.
The objective was to get to the business area of « la Joliette » situated about twenty kilometers from our departure point.
The shooting starts, and after filming a few images on the windy road next to the sea, our tester Yann stops next to us:
« It’s really amazing to feel the bike that’s pushing you, so cool to be in a turn and boost out of it at 40 km/h! And the little climb back there, I didn’t even feel it! »
We share his enthusiasm and on seeing his big smile, it’s true that this bike seems super-efficient to ride, a pure pleasure!
As we approach the town, Yann opens the road and we attempt to follow him in the car with the production team. It’s fairly surprising to see that we are showing over 40 km/h on the speedometer! He’s riding at almost the same speed as us on the bends of this road which takes us towards the gateway of the town. We once again shoot a few images then we decide to head to the town center, towards the pretty Panier district.
We decide to compare the time taken by the bike to that of our car, Yann puts the destination into the GPS on his Bosch Nyon console, we enter the meeting point into Waze (driving directions app) and we’re off! « The first to arrive waits for the other! » shouts out Yann as he heads off.
In town, the bike shows its full potential. Very soon, we lose sight of Yann who heads through the traffic, he weaves between cars and can easily get to the head of queues at red lights.
While we head through Marseille’s tunnels and drive through the saturated town traffic that quickly becomes complex and stressful for us, Yann is swift and agile behind the handlebar of his Speed. In the end, he arrives about ten minutes before us… and we haven’t even found a place to park yet!
The day unfolds and we get about from spot to spot. In the evening it’s time to return to Goudes, our starting point.
On the return, once again the Speed is faster than our car. Yann has fun with the amused reactions of scooters intrigued by this bike that’s riding as fast as them!
« That was A-MA-ZING »! This bike, it’s a joy! And without realizing it, I’ve ridden 60 kilometers today and I could have done double that! »
